Why Aging Doesn’t Have to Be Seen as a Negative Thing — I Believe Hairstyles Can Reflect That Perspective Too

“Wanting to look younger” — I completely understand that feeling, and I would never deny it.
But I believe that getting older is something we can embrace freely, beautifully, and gracefully.
For example, your hair may lose some volume, or you might start to see gray strands. Many people feel the need to “hide” those changes, but if you shift your perspective, they can actually open the door to new textures and tones.
Changes in your hair aren’t a bad thing. In fact, it’s those very changes that expand the possibilities for new designs.
When volume decreases, a silhouette that uses that weight can be beautiful, or a length that highlights the neckline might suit you even better.
For hair with a mix of grays, adding translucent colors or highlights can create a softness that might not have been possible when you were younger.
Many people come to me saying, “I’m not sure what suits me anymore at my age.”
But in those moments, rather than asking “How do you want to look?” I like to explore “How do you want to be?” — and we find the hairstyle together.
Rather than hiding, let’s highlight. Rather than forcing yourself to look younger, let’s focus on looking truly lovely. That’s what I hope to help with, as a hairdresser.
Because your hair is something people naturally notice every day, a style that feels effortless often shines the brightest.
There’s a unique atmosphere and presence that only comes with age — something that can’t be recreated by trends or techniques alone.
So if you’re feeling even a little out of sync with your current self, it’s not a negative sign. It might simply be time to start exploring your next style.
