Everyone Already Knows — The Feeling of “This Is What I Really Want to Do”

“There’s something about this person that’s just… wonderful.”
Have you ever felt that way while walking down the street?
Their outfit, hairstyle, makeup, gestures — you notice the appearance first, but what really attracts us is the glimpse of their true self behind it all.

It’s never because they’re wearing luxury brands or following the latest social media trends.
The real charm comes from people who choose what they truly like, what feels right for them, and who express themselves naturally without forcing it.

But how about here in Japan?
Many people tend to choose safe colors like white, black, or gray, and hairstyles that blend in with their workplace or school.
It often feels like everyone’s trying too hard to look “acceptable,” worrying about others’ opinions and aiming for a standard, unremarkable appearance.

Meanwhile, when you walk through the streets of London or other Western cities, it’s a completely different world.
In multicultural societies, “being different” is the norm.
Many people express themselves freely — “I do this because I want to” — and you can see the happiness that comes from choosing their own path.
That kind of authenticity is contagious; just watching them makes you feel inspired.

The reason I emphasize this isn’t just about fashion or hair.
A life bound by “what others think” or “the unspoken rules” can feel suffocating.
Choosing what you truly love, what feels comfortable for you — that’s what leads to genuine happiness.

Of course, I’m not suggesting you have to dress boldly or stand out in flashy ways.
Simple is fine. Natural is fine.
What matters is that it’s something you genuinely like.
“Do you really like it? Or are you choosing it because you’re worried about what others think?”
Even just asking yourself that question might start to change something inside you.

In my salon, I see it as part of my role to gently “give that little push.”
A consultation where I help clients bring out their true feelings and feel comfortable accepting themselves.
Creating a safe space where they can say, “This is what I actually want to try.”
Sometimes, I make suggestions that might feel like a small challenge.
But those moments often become the first step toward discovering their true individuality.

It’s okay to have thinning hair, gray hair, or natural waves.
That’s who you are.
It’s okay to have wrinkles or to show signs of age.
There’s always a way of expressing yourself that suits you — and that’s something positive, something full of possibility.

I want to help people find their own unique form of expression, and be someone who can give that gentle nudge forward.
Most people, deep down, already have that feeling — “This is what I really want.”
And you probably do too.
Let’s start bringing that feeling to life, little by little.
