A Counseling Session That Respects Your True Feelings

Have you ever felt this way when going to a hair salon?
– Worried that the stylist won’t understand your thoughts
– Unsure how to express what you want
– Not quite satisfied with the result, but can’t explain why
I completely understand those feelings.
That’s why I value “listening” more than anything else.

In the initial consultation, I take my time to listen closely so I can truly understand how you feel.
Of course, if you don’t feel like talking, there’s no pressure to say anything.
But if needed, I’m happy to listen for 30 minutes or even an hour—whatever it takes, without watching the clock.

Not just about hairstyles, but also:
– Something that recently happened in your life
– How you want others to see you
– A new challenge you’re planning at work
Anything you’d like to share is welcome.
In fact, the real you often shows through in topics beyond hair.

At Hairdresser TAKA, I’ve worked with over 10,000 clients in Tokyo/Omotesando and London.
Based on that experience with clients of diverse nationalities, hair types, and values, I always offer multiple options.
We choose together, through open discussion.
Rather than forcing my opinion or blindly following your request, I believe in working *with* you—like a team—to find the best style.

Steps of the Consultation

1. Listening

I’ll ask how you’re feeling today.
Your favorite hairstyles and why you like them.
Styles you disliked, or bad salon experiences in the past—these are all important hints.
If you don’t have anything in particular to say, that’s perfectly okay too.

2. Suggestions

Based on my experience, I’ll offer suggestions from multiple angles.
I try to avoid fixed ideas, and instead present various options—like “Here’s another idea that might work for you.”

3. Deciding Together

I won’t impose my ideas, nor will I simply go along with yours.
Together, we bring our perspectives and collaborate to find the ideal style.
The consultation doesn’t end before the service begins—it continues during the process.
If anything concerns you along the way, we’ll check in and adjust as needed.
That ongoing dialogue brings us closer to true satisfaction.

Three Things I Value Most

1. No Language Barriers

In the salon, I communicate using English, Japanese, and translation apps—whatever works best for each guest.

2. Understanding “Feelings That Are Hard to Express”

Even if you can’t put it into words, that’s okay.
I try to pick up on feelings through subtle expressions and tone, always listening with both ears and heart.

3. Respecting Those Who Feel Nervous About Salons

Many people have had uncomfortable salon experiences in the past.
I do my best to create a space that gently eases those anxieties.

In Closing

My goal is not just to be a hair salon, but a safe space where you can openly talk about who you are.
Creating great hair designs is just one way to help you live better and feel more positive.

If you don’t have any concerns, there’s no need to obsess over your hairstyle.
But many people carry small insecurities or dreams of how they want to be.
I do too.

Even the same haircut can look different depending on someone’s background or intention.
When we uncover “your personal reasons,” I believe that’s where true beauty lies.
