When you visit a hair salon, have you ever wondered whether the towels or gowns you wear are truly clean?
And does that salon really prepare enough towels and tools for every single customer?
What You Often See in Hair Salons
In busy salons where many customers rotate quickly, it’s common to see stylists wearing scissor cases on their waists.
These are always filled with scissors, brushes, and combs. While this looks professional, it raises the question: are they really disinfected for each customer?
Likewise, are the capes and towels replaced with brand-new or disinfected ones for each client?
In Japan, the law requires that “any tools that touch the customer’s skin must be disinfected and hygienically maintained.” This is only natural to prevent infections or skin diseases.
Why Many Salons Fail to Enforce This
The reasons are simple: it takes both cost and effort.
For example, in a salon with six chairs, open eight hours a day, cutting one client per hour, that’s 48 clients per day. This means 144 towels (3 per client), 48 gowns, and 48 brushes or combs are needed daily.
Washing and drying all of them, while also disinfecting tools during business hours, is realistically very demanding.
As a result, some level of “reuse” inevitably happens in many places.
What I Personally Commit To
I only take two clients per day and work completely one-on-one.
That’s why I can guarantee that every client receives disinfected tools, freshly washed towels, and brand-new disposable gloves and cups.
- Scissors and combs are fully disinfected after each client
- Gloves for applying chemicals are always disposable
- Beverages are served in disposable containers, not reused cups
This way, you can enjoy your service in a safe and hygienic environment.
Cleanliness is not only about appearance — it also creates a sense of安心 and comfort for the customer.
Hygiene as an Added Value
While hygiene management should be a given in hair salons, in reality many places do not enforce it strictly.
That’s why providing a truly hygienic environment becomes a major point of difference that customers really appreciate.
Letting clients relax in a clean and safe space — this, too, is an essential part of my service.
