Hair Salons That Only Promote Their Techniques—Do You Really Know If They Suit You?

You often see advertisements from hair salons and hairdressers that emphasize their techniques, don’t you?

“The latest chemicals,” “the world’s first treatment,” “the trendiest hairstyle”—they all sound appealing. But can you really tell if they are right for you just from that?

You can’t judge by appearances alone

This is not only true for hair salons, but also for hospitals, cosmetic surgery, hotels, restaurants—almost every industry.

“It must be good because it has the latest equipment,” “It’s safe because it’s located downtown,” “It’s expensive so the quality must be high”—we tend to get caught up in these superficial standards.

But what truly matters is whether the service or product suits you personally.

Even with the same chemical or technique, the results differ greatly depending on your hair type and lifestyle. The “right choice” is different for each individual.

Price ≠ Value

Of course, it’s true that lower prices can mean poorer quality products or services.

However, “cheap = bad” and “expensive = good” is an oversimplification.

Take a ¥1,000 haircut, for example. For someone who just wants a quick trim, that service provides great value beyond its price.

On the other hand, for someone who wants to carefully discuss and design their hairstyle, a one-on-one stylist who takes time is more suitable.

In other words, the most important thing is not “which service is good,” but rather, “Is this service what I personally need?”

Reducing uncertainty with pre-consultation

What I value most is pre-consultation before booking.

To minimize the risk of coming in and thinking “This wasn’t the right place,” I provide an online consultation system.

  • • If you send me a current photo of your hair, I can suggest options that fit your hair type and bone structure.
  • • I can answer questions like “Would this hairstyle suit me?” in advance.
  • • Together, we can decide on the best treatment or chemicals suited to your hair and lifestyle.

By booking only after you are convinced, you’ll be more likely to feel that the service was worth more than its price—even if it was expensive.

Not just technique, but personality and mindset matter too

When choosing a hairdresser, skills and techniques are of course important.

But even more important is what kind of person the stylist is, and what values they bring to their work.

For my part, I value an attitude of “never denying a client’s sensibility” and “exploring together.”

Building a relationship where clients feel comfortable consulting me—that, I believe, is the greatest technique a hairdresser can have.

It’s natural to be drawn to the latest technologies and flashy advertisements.

But what really matters is whether it suits you.

That’s why I recommend consultation before booking.

Choosing after you’re convinced leads to a more satisfying, regret-free salon experience.

I’m always available for online consultations.

Please feel free to send me a message anytime.
