Should You Wash Your Hair Before Going to a Salon? What a Hairdresser Wants to See Is the Real You

Should You Wash Your Hair Before Going to a Salon? What a Hairdresser Wants to See Is the Real You

When the day of your salon appointment comes around,

“Should I wash my hair before I go?”
“Should I style it properly so I don’t seem rude?”
“Should I make sure my makeup looks perfect?”

Some people may wonder about these things.

The answer is simple: you don’t need to do anything special just because you’re coming to the salon.

In fact, I would rather see you exactly as you are on a normal day.

Your Everyday Look Is the Most Valuable Information

A hairdresser’s job is not just about looking at hair.

What kind of clothes do you usually wear?

Do you wear glasses?

Do you wear makeup?

Do you often tie your hair up?

Do you use styling products?

I think about hairstyles while considering all of these everyday details.

That’s why you don’t need to wash your hair or do special styling just for your salon appointment.

If you normally style your hair, come with it styled as usual.

If you normally don’t use any products, that’s perfectly fine too.

Whether you wash your hair every day
or every two or three days,
just come as you normally would.

Even if your scalp or hair feels a little dirty,
I’ll be shampooing your hair anyway,
so it’s not a problem at all.

Actually,
I enjoy shampooing and giving scalp massages,
so I often look forward to it myself ^_^

Also,
if you’re scheduled for a color or perm service where products may touch the scalp,
there’s no need to shampoo your hair right before your appointment.

The natural oils produced by your scalp help protect it from irritation caused by chemical services.

Because of that, having a slightly oily scalp can sometimes reduce stress on the skin.

What I want to see is not the “salon version” of you, but the real you in everyday life.

That’s how I can create a hairstyle that truly fits your lifestyle.

The Purpose of a Hairstyle Is to Make Life a Little Better

I don’t believe the hairstyle itself is the final goal.

Of course, a stylish haircut and beautiful design are important.

But I don’t think that’s enough.

What matters is what happens after your hairstyle changes.

Maybe you feel a little more positive.

Maybe you feel motivated to work harder.

Maybe you look forward to seeing people.

Maybe you find yourself looking in the mirror more often.

Those kinds of changes are what matter most to me.

On the other hand, no matter how fashionable a hairstyle may be, if it’s difficult to manage every day or doesn’t help you feel better about yourself, I wouldn’t consider it a successful result.

It doesn’t have to be a special hairstyle.

It doesn’t have to be a dramatic design.

If it helps you enjoy your daily life a little more, then I believe it’s a good hairstyle.

So when you come to the salon, please don’t worry too much.

Your hair, your clothes, your makeup—

just come as you normally are.

That makes it much easier for us to find a hairstyle that truly suits you and your lifestyle.

There is no special preparation required before coming to the salon.

Seeing the real, everyday version of you is the most valuable thing you can bring.
