For Those Who Find It Hard to Say, “Could You Cut a Little More?”

After your haircut is finished at the salon.
You look in the mirror and think,
“I’d like this part a little shorter.”
“My bangs still feel a bit off.”
“Something just doesn’t feel quite right.”
Have you ever felt that way?
But many people find it difficult to say those words out loud.
The salon looks busy, and you start thinking,
“Am I making more work for them?”
“What if they get annoyed?”
Those feelings are completely understandable.
I understand that feeling very well myself.
That’s why I try to create an atmosphere where clients feel comfortable mentioning even the smallest concern they notice at the end.
The Last 1–3 Minutes Can Change Your Satisfaction
Hair is funny sometimes. Something that didn’t bother you during the haircut can suddenly stand out the moment you look in the mirror at the end.
Of course, the ideal situation is when everything feels right from the start.
The client is happy.
The hairdresser is happy.
Everyone leaves feeling satisfied.
But if there is even a small detail that bothers you, there is no need to hesitate.
Adjusting the length slightly.
Changing the texture a little.
Refining the bangs just a touch.
Sometimes just a few extra minutes can make a big difference in how satisfied you feel with the final result.
Of course, it’s not possible to create a completely different hairstyle after the haircut is finished.
But it’s surprising how often a small adjustment can make things feel much better.
Why I Don’t Overbook My Schedule
Many salons work with very limited time and need to serve a large number of clients.
There is nothing wrong with that.
Personally, I like to leave a little extra time at the end of every appointment.
When a client notices something, I want them to feel,
“Maybe I can ask.”
Instead of,
“I probably shouldn’t say anything.”
That’s why I keep my schedule at a level where I can focus on each person individually.
As a hairdresser, I’m not aiming to be a perfect technician.
I want to be someone who can listen to that final comment from a client and respond with care.
If there is something that still feels slightly off when you see the finished result, please feel free to tell me.
Of course, the best outcome is when there is nothing to say at all.
But if there is that one small comment, I’d be happy to work together with you to make the result even better.
